Nas got into some scrapes in his younger years, says Faith Newman, who signed the rapper to Columbia.
She told us at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the Nas doc “Time is Illmatic,” “It wasn’t Nas, it was the Queensbridge kids [who] could be pretty rowdy,” adding she once had to “dive under a table at a show” at a club.
“At the end…one of his friends shot up in the air and yelled, ‘Queensbridge,’ and everybody hit the floor,” Newman said. “I was younger then, I was able to deal with it.”
