Alexa Ray Joel says she’s finally “coming out of my shell” after once being intimidated by dad Billy Joel’s success.
After she recently played at Café Carlyle, she said, “It’s very scary to want to do [music] with my father being who he is,” in the new issue of art publication Flatt.
“If I really sit and think about the impact he’s had, it’s very intimidating. But as I’m getting older, I’m able to carve out my own aesthetic and opinion musically.”
Alexa Ray will attend Flatt’s Thursday bash at the National Arts Club.
