Marilyn Burns, star of ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,’ dies

Scream queen and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” star Marilyn Burns died Tuesday inside her home near Houston, a rep for the actress said.

She was 65.

“She was found unresponsive by a family member [Tuesday] morning in her Houston, Texas, area home,” her representative told E! News. “Her family asks for privacy at this time. Further details will be released later.”

Burns will best be remembered for playing Sally Hardesty in the 1974 horror classic, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”

Her character survived chainsaw-wielding Leatherface’s gruesome killing spree.

Burns went on to star in another horror standard, “Eaten Alive,” a 1977 blood-and-guts flick directed by “Chain Saw” maestro Tobe Hooper.

Other horror credits on Burns’ resume include “Kiss Daddy Goodbye” in 1981 and “Future-Kill” in 1985. She also was in the Charles Manson TV movie “Helter Skelter” in 1976, playing former family member-turned-cooperating witness Linda Kasabian.
