Amy Adams is a stand-up citizen.

With Independence Day just around the corner, the Oscar-nominated actress, 39, gave up her first-class seat to a soldier Friday, reports ABC.

Adams reportedly noticed the soldier at the gate and quickly asked to switch seats with him — placing her in coach.

“I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams’ seat,” said Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN2’s “Numbers Never Lie.” “She was no longer in it, but it was pretty clear that she’d given up her seat for him. I was incredibly impressed, and I’m not even sure if the soldier knew who gave him that seat. I guess he will now!”

Soon after the two switched seat assignments, the military brat and the man in uniform quietly met in the cockpit of the plane.

“Ms. Adams did it so quietly and quickly that it speaks to her character,” said Hill. “And somebody in coach just got a helluva seatmate!”

Adams later told “Inside Edition,” “I didn’t do it for attention for myself. I did it for attention for the Troops.”
