Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz had glowing words, big and small, for Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo at the Fashion Institute of Technology gala.
He said of Fargo, who was honored at Cipriani 42nd Street, “You remain unique, special and above all, very loyal, and how rare is that in fashion? One day my mother said to me, ‘I wish you will be big and small,’ and I asked, ‘What do you mean, like fat and skinny?’ She said, ‘Be big in your work and remain small and simple in your life.’ Linda is huge in her job, but how humble and simple she is . . . one of the real pearls that pushes us designers . . . to dare, to think, to create.”
Also honored before guests including Prabal Gurung, Carolina Herrera, Naeem Khan and Diane von Furstenberg were Dr. Jay H. Baker and Joan Hornig.
Fargo added a Ram Dass quote of advice, “Treat everyone nicely because they are probably God in drag.”
