Joaquin Phoenix celebrates ‘The Immigrant’

The normally reserved Joaquin Phoenix whooped it up at a party for his latest film until after 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

Phoenix, who “quit” acting in a hoax after starring in James Gray’s “Two Lovers,” re-teams with Gray in “The Immigrant,” alongside Marion Cotillard, who also hit the Dior and Cinema Society bash at Beautique on Tuesday. Other revelers included Harvey Weinstein, Uma Thurman, Isabella Rossellini, Josh Charles, Alexander Payne, Mark Feuerstein, Michael Shannon and Adam Brody.

Meanwhile director Gray told us another star of the film, Jeremy Renner, practiced with a magician for his role and is a natural.

“Jeremy was incredibly adept with his hand and certain magic tricks,” Gray told us, adding, “The magician who trained him said, ‘If I had maybe two or three more days with him he’d be like a professional magician.’ ” Just how long did Renner train? “Like a day,” Gray responded.
