Daniel Radcliffe no longer trapped in Toronto

Daniel Radcliffe was expected to arrive at his first-ever Comic-Con on Thursday, but the English “Harry Potter” star got stuck in Toronto because of a visa glitch that kept him from entering the US.

While Potter would’ve simply hopped on his broom to the influential San Diego fest, Radcliffe was unceremoniously grounded. “He’s stuck in Toronto with visa problems,” said a source. Radcliffe was north of the border for a premiere of his movie “What If” with Zoe Kazan. He also celebrated his 25th birthday there on Wednesday.

But he was then meant to head to Comic-Con to promote another, darker film, “Horns.” Adapted from the book by Joe Hill (a k a the son of Stephen King), “Horns” stars Radcliffe as a character who wakes up having grown horns after possibly killing his girlfriend. Other projects being pumped at Comic-Con this week include HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” and the long-awaited “Mad Max: Fury Road” with Tom Hardy.

Page Six has learned that Radcliffe was in the process of upgrading his current “P-2 visa” — designated for foreign actors and entertainers — to an “O-1 visa” for “the individual who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business or athletics.” An O-1 grants the holder a three-year stay in the US, while a P-2 only gives a performer residency for the time they’re working on a project, not to exceed a year.

We hear Radcliffe had been approved to upgrade to the O-1, but he needed a “stamp from the US Embassy” in Toronto to travel back to the States. And “their computer system was down,” our source said.

Radcliffe’s rep responded at 2 a.m. Friday that a delayed Radcliffe ultimately did arrive in San Diego — in time for a scheduled Comic-Con panel later Friday afternoon with his co-star Juno Temple and director Alexandre Aja. “Horns” is being released by the Weinstein Company’s Radius-TWC label.

Radcliffe just wrapped up a role on Broadway in “The Cripple of Inishmaan” on Sunday.
