Gaga surprises fans at Arlene’s Grocery and Gramercy Park Hotel

Lady Gaga went back to her roots by showing up at her old Lower East Side haunt, Arlene’s Grocery, on Wednesday.

She also gave gobsmacked guests at the Gramercy Park Hotel an impromptu show the same night.

After getting a trumpet tattooed on her right arm as a tribute to Tony Bennett, spies said Gaga and jazz musician Brian Newman slipped into Arlene’s “$5 Rock Show,” hosted by downtown rocker Tommy London.

“Gaga played here nine years ago. But she still hangs out in the little places that helped her back then,” said an impressed habitué of the club, summing up, “It was cool as s—t.”

She and Newman, who are working on Bennett’s new album, were also spotted at the hotel, where they sang for surprised fans.

“They sounded great,” said one delighted guest.

On Monday, the “Applause” diva dropped by the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens with Bennett to perform and do a Q&A for students with NBC’s Lester Holt.

She’s expected to play for paying customers at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on June 28.
