Chicago firebrand Rev. Michael Pfleger didn’t disappoint last Sunday when he preached at the interfaith Riverside Church.
The controversial Catholic clergyman — who supports the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the Rev. Al Sharpton, female priests and married priests — told the congregation:
“I have known Michelle [Obama] for 26 years. But I have told the president that he was elected to be the president of the United States of America, not just black America.”
According to photographer Bettina Cirone, Pfleger continued, “What good would I be if I just yessed them? I am here to challenge them.”
Noting Harry Belafonte in a pew, Pfleger said, “I can’t sing like Dr. Belafonte, but I can cause some trouble.” He later bragged about a man telling him, “S—t, that was a good sermon!”
