CBS has already shot down rumors that Chelsea Handler could replace Craig Ferguson on “The Late Late Show” at 12:30 a.m. But not for reasons you might guess.
“Chelsea Handler is a pain in the butt,” one network exec told me, after the funny lady posted a photo on Instagram of her holding a pile of CBS papers, which she termed a “business meeting.”
My sources say Handler actually met with CBS execs about hosting a syndicated daytime talk show, a deadly jungle littered with the bodies of Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Kris Jenner, Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake, just to name a few.
Handler, whose reps did not get back to me, said recently that she wants to quit hosting her hit E! show, “Chelsea Lately,” after seven years, which would be this year — her contract also is up at the end of 2014.
