Jada Pinkett Smith warns ‘don’t pollute’ Willow

Jada Pinkett Smith is still outraged over the sexualization of her 13-year-old daughter Willow.

“Just don’t pollute something that’s not dirty,” Smith told Net-A-Porter’s The Edit about the controversial photo of Willow lying in bed with her shirtless 20-year-old friend, Moises Arias.

“I want my kids to be happy and I want them to be themselves,” explained the unconventional mother, 42. “I was saying to a friend the other day, ‘Remember, our kids are not us.’ They’re not. Sometimes we’re trying to fix things that happened to us or projecting [onto them], and that’s a terrible, terrible trap.”

In May, Smith confronted the media about sexualizing the seemingly innocent photo of Willow and Moises in bed.

“Here’s the deal,” she told TMZ. “There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it and that’s not cool.”

Despite the constant criticism, Smith is proud of her unique parenting style.

“I’m not a conventional, which I take a lot pride in,” she told Us Weekly. “I don’t just sit with Willow and go, ‘Hey, this is what Mommy thinks. Let me just bring in a little reality to validate what Mommy’s been talking to you about.’”
