Shia LaBeouf‘s publicist says the “Nymphomaniac” actor is seeking help to battle alcohol addiction. According to a statement obtained by The Wrap, the actor is not checking himself into rehab but is seeking outside help.

“Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction. He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time.”

LaBeouf’s meltdown last Thursday was fueled by booze. “Drinking and Shia do not mix well,” said a source to E! News. “But he definitely wasn’t on any kind of drugs.”

In a bizarre video exclusively obtained by Page Six, LaBeouf was seen chasing a homeless man around Times Square trying to grab a bag of food out of the mans hand.

LaBeouf was spotted drinking at least four strawberry margaritas at New York’s Iguana Club before he was arrested and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of criminal trespassing and one count of harassment.  The actor is scheduled to appear in court on July 24.
