New city eatery evacuated when smoke sets off sprinklers

It was literally the hottest opening in New York on Tuesday.

Guests were evacuated from a “friends & family” preview of brand-new Obicà Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina Flatiron when smoke alarms went off and the FDNY arrived.

Spies said a well-heeled, packed house turned up to check out the delicacies from chef Enzo Neri and pizza maker Daniele Uditi, but “the sprinklers went off and three firetrucks arrived.”

No one was hurt, and reps explained that smoke near the kitchen set off the sprinklers, but there was no fire.

The crack staff jumped into action, booking tables for diners at other hot spots. They aim to reopen July 21 due to some flooding caused by the false alarm.
