Obama teens ‘exceedingly popular’ thanks to White House: book

Neighbors of Sidwell Friends students in Washington, DC, can tell when President and Michelle Obama’s daughters are guests at a sleepover.

The Secret Service details protecting Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, are the opposite of covert, says Crystal Walker, co-author of “Desperate in DC,” in which she details her quest to get her kids into Sidwell. They ultimately went to a different private school.

Besides their obvious beauty and charm, “the Obama girls are exceedingly popular in school because of the chance for sleepovers at the White House,” Walker told me.

Walker, a Midwesterner, teamed up with Phoebe Thompson, a Brit, to write the exposé of life in the wealthy enclaves around the capitol.

One of Walker’s neighbors is George Will, whom she almost ran over one morning on her way to hot yoga class. Will was walking his cocker spaniel.

“He was quite outraged. I was surprised at the number of bad words that came out of a conservative commentator’s mouth.”
