Sirius XM, which airs “The Opie & Anthony Show,” has been mysteriously silent following controversial host Anthony Cumia’s misogynistic, racially charged Twitter tirade against a woman he accuses of assaulting him on the street.
The 53-year-old shock jock claimed he was repeatedly punched by the woman early Tuesday while he was innocently snapping pictures, and that she accidentally got into a frame and then tweeted a series of incendiary statements.
A rep for Sirius did not respond to numerous requests for comment from Page Six and the multiple outlets that picked up the story. The silence continued when we e-mailed to say that their failure to respond could be taken as condoning Cumia’s behavior and reprehensible statements.
Cumia tweeted today, “We are living in a strange backward world. Where people support the attacker & the victim is the villain.”
Meanwhile, former New York prosecutor Julie B. Rendelman says the unidentified woman who allegedly punched Cumia while calling him a “white motherf - - - er” could be charged with assault or a hate crime if her actions were racially motivated.
