Martin Short takes down celebs in charity comedy show

Martin Short poked fun at Shia LaBeouf’s “Cabaret” meltdown in a charity one-man show Saturday.

Short, at the Guild Hall of East Hampton, joked about a lot of stars.

John Mayer performed here once, it was like a game of Clue,” he said, dressed as his character Irving Cohen.

“John Mayer with the cocktail waitress in the dressing room. And if live theater isn’t your kind of stuff, enjoy another breakdown from Shia LaBeouf.”

Short continued, “The great Miley Cyrus, whose shows are all the rage. Ninety minutes of lip-synching, while her tongue humps the stage. The talented Beyoncé, be sure not to miss her, and unless you want a black eye, avoid an elevator with her sister.”

He took down Chris Christie.

“Wow, that lap-band surgery is sure paying off. I’d like to see him run, just to see him run.”

Short’s show drew a starry audience, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick and Alec Baldwin.

Belting out a song about privacy to the tune of “Candle in the Wind,” Short’s lyrics included, “And these sleazy paparazzi ain’t got no class, so we can all rejoice when Alec Baldwin kicks their ass.”

When Nathan Lane, dressed casually in jeans and a black polo shirt, came onstage, he was greeted by Short saying, “First of all, you’re dressed beautifully for the theater. I mean, you’re a little informal tonight, what would you wear if you were going bowling?”
