‘American Sniper’ author says prisoner exchange could be dangerous

Scott McEwen, the author of “American Sniper,” won’t be surprised when the five terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl end up killing more Americans.

The plot of his new thriller “Target America” features terrorists released from Gitmo who smuggle a dirty bomb across the Mexican border into the U.S.

“I did see this coming,” McEwen told me yesterday. “I wrote that plot over a year ago. It’s scary.”

McEwen said his friends with Team Six of the Navy SEALs aren’t happy with the Bergdahl prisoner exchange.

“They’re glad we got a POW back, but a lot of men were lost trying to get him back.”

The author recently visited the set of Clint Eastwood’s movie version of “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as legendary rifleman Chris Kyle.

As for reports that Cooper had put on weight, “He just looked like he was in great shape. It’s all muscle.”

Cooper also studied Kyle’s Odessa, Texas, accent.

“He really became Chris Kyle. It’s amazing. I think the movie’s going to be epic.”
