Russian art collector Maria Baibakova hosted a private dinner at restaurant Lincoln to honor Bolshoi Ballet dancer David Hallberg last week — but guests had learned of downed Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 before the meal.
“Maria got teary-eyed when she had to stand to give her remarks,” said a spy. “She led the room in a moment of silence for the victims. It was not an easy evening, so everyone appreciated that.”
Guests included Vogue editors Hamish Bowles and Chloe Malle, designers Prabal Gurung and Derek Lam, Valentino’s Carlos Souza, Carlos Mota, Indre Rockefeller and Jeffrey Deitch.
Hallberg starred in “Swan Lake” as part of the Lincoln Center Festival.
