Katie Holmes is focused on the future.
“I never really look back. I just approach life, I take it one day at a time and I’m really excited about where I am right now,” she told Matt Lauer on “Today” Wednesday.
It’s been two years since Tom Cruise and Holmes called it quits and she’s finally escaped the spotlight that came with being married to the actor (last year, Cruise admitted one of the reasons Holmes left him was to protect their daughter Suri, now 8, from Scientology).
Since becoming a single mom, Holmes says she’s focused solely on Suri.
“I think, of course, you try your best,” Holmes said, “I try very hard because I am very grateful for my upbringing and my parents and siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one. The most important thing for me is letting her know how proud I am and that her accomplishments mean everything. Whatever I do is whatever. It’s really just about her and that’s what I think is most important.”
Katie is currently promoting her new movie “The Giver,” which hits theaters on Aug. 15.
