Singer Jill Scott plays James Brown’s ex-wife Deedee Jenkins in the Mick Jagger/Brian Grazer-produced biopic “Get On Up,” and suffers through a violent scene where Brown punches her to the ground.
She told us of the difficult scene, “All I could do was prep with the stuntman so I know how to deal with it. I had to let myself get hurt and feel fear, and I would do it again and again. One day, I will take a picture of my bruises, they were . . . like a badge of honor.”
“Get On Up” opens in theaters Friday.
