Stand Up for Heroes launches Dine Out for Heroes with top chefs

The New York Comedy Festival and Bob Woodruff Foundation have already raised more than $20 million to support injured soldiers and their families through Stand Up for Heroes.

Now, city restaurateurs have joined the cause. Dine Out for Heroes, Nov. 5, has the backing of Eric Ripert, Daniel Boulud, Andrew Carmellini, Drew Nieporent and Simon Oren.

Hundreds of participating restaurants will donate a dollar for every customer it serves.

“It brings all the restaurant community together to make a difference to veterans,” Ripert said.

The event’s spearheaded by Peter and Penny Glazier, Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox, and Cristyne Nicholas.

The foundation was launched by Woodruff after being injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq.
