George Clooney bashes Donald Trump

George Clooney sent out an email to Hillary Clinton supporters on Monday morning taking aim at Donald Trump, whom he does not identify by name.

“If you listen to the loudest voices out there today, you’d think we’re a country that hates Mexicans, hates Muslims, and thinks that committing war crimes is the best way to make America great again,” Clooney says. “The truth is that the only thing that would prevent America from being great would be to empower these voices.”

Clooney goes on to praise Clinton, calling her “a voice of tolerance and experience … who’s spent a lifetime fighting for the rights of the less fortunate. A candidate who knows firsthand the complexity of our international relationships,” and if she takes the Democratic nomination, “the only grown-up in the room.” He concluded the note, “And if ever there was a time for a grown-up, that time is now.”

In the email, the “Hail, Caesar!” actor offers up a chance to win tickets to a fundraiser at his and wife Amal’s home in Los Angeles April 16, hosted by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and his wife, Marilyn, and Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw.

“The good news is, I’m not cooking,” Clooney writes.

Tickets for the event are $33,400.

Clooney previously said that for Clinton, he’d do “whatever she wants, whatever way I can help.”

In 2012, he hosted a $40,000-per-head fundraiser for Barack Obama, which raised $15 million, with guests including Katzenberg, Barbra Streisand and Diane von Furstenberg.
