Billy Joel’s original band reuniting for Music Hall of Fame

It’s been almost 20 years since Billy Joel’s original band broke up after lawsuits and the suicide of bassist Doug Stegmeyer.

For the first time since then, the band, including Liberty DeVitto and Richie Cannata, will be on the same stage when they are inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame during a dinner at the Paramount Theater in Huntington on Oct. 23.

Music business titans Clive Davis, “The Man With the Golden Ears,” and Live Nation legend Ron Delsener will be inaugurated into the Hall the same evening.

The question is, who will induct Davis and Delsener?

The choice is limitless, as they both know practically every music star alive.

The great “Evita” star Patti LuPone, who hails from Northport, LI, will also take her place in the Hall of Fame.

We’re told there will be a special posthumous tribute to Gerry Goffin, Carole King’s first husband and one half of the hit machine Goffin and King.

Past inductees include Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey, Tony Bennett, Pat Benatar and Neil Diamond.
