Annie Leibovitz buys UWS apartment for $11.25M

Annie Leibovitz has plunked down $11.25 million on a smashing Upper West Side apartment on Central Park West next door to Robert De Niro.

The famed photographer in 2009 owed $24 million to creditors and was at risk of losing the rights to her valuable archives. But the 64-year-old’s finances improved in February when she sold a trio of Greenwich Village houses, spanning over 10,200 square feet with an impressive 13 fireplaces, to Lauren Bush Lauren and David Lauren, son of Ralph Lauren, for $28.5 million.

Doing the math, a move to an $11 million home with Central Park views is called “downsizing,” reports The Post’s Jennifer Gould Keil.

But, “She’s made great progress on reducing her debt,” the source added. “She is being responsible, and she continues to do great work.”

Leibovitz’s new stately duplex pad comes with three bedrooms, 3 ¹/₂ bathrooms, a formal dining room, large living room and views of both Central Park West and Central Park South from large picture windows.

Talented Leibovitz — one of the world’s best-known portrait photographers, who has recently done shoots with Sting for Vanity Fair and Lena Dunham for Vogue — got a good deal. The apartment was originally listed for $14.5 million.
