Marshall Project launch party draws in Hargitay and Margulies

The Marshall Project — a not-for-profit news outlet focusing on criminal justice reform — had a launch party Thursday at the home of Andrew and Nancy Jarecki, which brought out top legal minds as well as actors that play them on TV.

Jarecki is the Moviefone founder turned documentary filmmaker.

Spotted at his East 66th home were “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay, “The Good Wife” lawyer Julianna Margulies, the Red Hook Community Justice Center’s Judge Alex Calabrese, “The Wire” star Tom McCarthy and Jesse Friedman — whose controversial case was the subject of Jarecki’s 2003 breakout “Capturing the Friedmans.”

Also on the scene were “GMA” host George Stephanopoulos and wife Ali Wentworth as well as author Holly Peterson (daughter of Pete Peterson), author Hyatt Bass (daughter of Sid Bass) and her screenwriter husband, Josh Klausner, Wendy Belzberg and Strauss Zelnick and political scions Alexandra Pelosi and Karenna Gore Schiff.

The Jareckis are pals with Bill Keller, the former New York Times editor who’s heading the Marshall Project, founded by hedge funder turned filmmaker Neil Barsky.
