Tokyo architect Shigeru Ban gave a personal tour of his yet-to-open, 33,000-square-foot Aspen Art Museum to VIPs as part of its three-day ArtCrush gala last weekend.

Ban’s first permanent US museum looks like a giant woven box and has a view of skiing mecca Ajax Mountain.

About 600 attended ArtCrush before the museum opens to the public on Thursday, including Tom Ford chairman Domenico De Sole, Lance Armstrong, actors Mamie Gummer and Timothy Olyphant, W editor Stefano Tonchi, artists Richard Phillips, Mickalene Thomas and Marilyn Minter, collector Amy Phelan and museum director Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson.

Phelan and husband John hosted a WineCrush kick-off dinner, where guests guzzled vintage Dom Pérignon, Château D’Yquem, Château Lynch-Bages and other top tipple, we hear. An auction raised $3 million.
