Chris Kattan — the veteran “SNL” comic, who with Will Ferrell starred in the movie spinoff “A Night at the Roxbury” — is coming clean about his recent DUI arrest and issues with Ambien.
“We all make mistakes,” Kattan, in town to appear on Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers’ shows on Thursday, exclusively told us.
“Mine was driving after I had taken Ambien, which I took as I have a fear of flying,” he said. “It was still in my system after I landed, and while I was driving home, I was in an auto accident. I take full responsibility for this, and am now working with a private substance therapist to deal with my Ambien usage, which helps alleviate my fear of flying. Ironically, Ambien is used to help people sleep, but for me, it was a wake-up call.”
The star was arrested earlier this year on DUI charges after allegedly weaving his Mercedes along the 101 Freeway and crashing into a parked construction truck. Before the accident, he was reportedly seen acting out of it on a flight landing at LAX.
Kattan will appear in court on Wednesday in LA after pleading not guilty to the charge in March and being ordered by a judge to attend 12-Step meetings.
