Zeta-Jones and Douglas ‘back together’

Michael Douglas’ mother, Diana Douglas, has revealed that her famous son is definitely back with estranged wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Speaking to The Sun the spritely 91-year-old said, “They are together. I knew they would work it out. They’re both gentle people, not hysterical. They’re always very affectionate and easy with each other. I figured the more everybody stayed out of it, the better.”

Douglas and Zeta-Jones announced they were separating in August of last year, but neither made any move toward finalizing a divorce. More recently, they’ve been spotted holidaying together in Quebec and the Bahamas, with their two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.

Diana Douglas told The Sun she is on good terms with Zeta-Jones, who married her son in 2000. “She’s very open and funny and we get along very well.”

Speaking of her daughter-in-law’s well-documented battle with bipolar disorder, Diana said: “I knew she was dealing with depression. I think she felt it was probably going to come out anyway and it was better that it came from her.

“I think she’s right about that. She’s dealing with it. She’s a very realistic person.”

She also spoke about her Oscar-winning son’s battle with cancer, revealing that he didn’t tell her about his illness until it became public knowledge.

“He kept it very much to himself. He didn’t tell any of the family. It was a private thing.”

Now, though, she says her son is in good health.

“He’s looking good. He’s always been athletic and strong.

“He gets depressed like everybody does at times. But he’s a very pragmatic person. He isn’t inclined to dwell on things.”
