Did the tech gods know LeBron James was headed to the Cavaliers before anyone else?

Twitter exploded when Grantland blogger Matt Borcas posted a tip from an unnamed “Web developer friend” who claimed well before James announced his decision to leave the Heat: “I think [James] is going to Cleveland . . . Right now there are pages on his site that were built yesterday.

There is no content on them, but they do have a color palette.” That “palette” corresponded to the Cleveland Cavaliers team colors.

But a Sporting News blogger countered, “We sat here and tried to find this code,” but couldn’t.

Friday after his announcement, the backdrop of James’ Web site was bathed in one of the Cavaliers’ colors — gold.
