Oscar nominee Sylvia Miles is ailing

Here’s to a speedy recovery for Sylvia Miles.

The actress (who received Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominations for 1969’s “Midnight Cowboy” and “Farewell My Lovely” in 1975) failed to show up for a lunch date with a couple of friends last week, and then didn’t answer her phone or intercom.

“The building staff broke her door down since she refused to leave her key with the management,” a neighbor on Central Park South told me.

Doctors at Roosevelt Hospital say it’s severe anemia, but lab tests continue. Visitors report Sylvia is putting the nurses through their paces and having them braid her hair.

Pals of the longtime partygoer, said to be anywhere from 82 to 90 years old, assure me she will never have financial problems.

“Sylvia has every dime she ever made socked away in the bank, plus the decades of alimony reluctantly coughed up by her third husband [late WNBC-AM host Ted Brown].”
