The magnificent castle William Randolph Hearst built on California’s Central Coast is known as San Simeon.
The majestic estate his granddaughter Anne Hearst built in Water Mill, LI, is known as Ashgrove Farm.
But, as Anne’s husband, Jay McInerney, thanked all the guests for coming to a kickoff for October’s Rita Hayworth Gala, he noted the emu in the backyard, and said, “We like to call it Anne Simeon.”
The house, designed by Peter Cook, features mantelpieces her grandfather had bought in Europe for San Simeon and warehoused when he ran out of room.
