HBO’s documentary doyenne Sheila Nevins told a fashionable crowd as she was honored at the A Posh Affair gala, “I am not exactly a fashionista … I only wear clothes when I actually have to.”
Nevins, who’s prepping for her network’s release of “The Case Against 8,” about the landmark “Prop 8” Supreme Court case, was handed a Lifestyle Visionary Award at the Lighthouse benefit at the Metropolitan Club on Tuesday.
The dinner’s named after Posh New York, which sells gently used designer and couture clothing to benefit Lighthouse International. Also honored were home design guru Jonathan Adler and Thom Browne, who outfitted guests including host Amy Fine Collins and event vice chair Somers Farkas in his designs.
Attending with his mom Cynthia and his husband Simon Doonan, Adler said, “I am so lucky that I get to make a living doing what I love … I am grateful to my parents who 20 years ago, when I was unemployed, said, ‘You know, I think I want to be a potter,’ and they said, ‘That’s great, you can do whatever you like!’”
Other attendees included hosts Hamish Bowles and Lorry Newhouse, Margo and John Catsimatidis, Michelle Paige Paterson, Charles Atkins, Debbie Bancroft and fashion designers Tory Burch and Olivier Theyskens.
