Off-the-rails Hollywood bad boy Shia LaBeouf was back in Manhattan on Thursday, but instead of chasing a homeless man around Times Square, the “Transformers” actor had a date with a judge.

And while he cleaned up nicely — trading the ripped shirt and grimy construction boots he wore during a June meltdown for a smart suit and tie — the actor still lived up to his clueless-wildman billing.

As LaBeouf entered the Manhattan courtroom for a hearing on his disorderly-conduct charges — stemming from a mid-show commotion he caused at a June performance of “Cabaret” — the actor, 28, marched straight over to Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Russell and shook her hand.

Court employees were stunned and one commented, “I’ve never seen a defendant do that before.”

He didn’t have to wait long to go before the judge: LaBeouf’s was the first case called.

“The defense counsel and I are discussing a possible resolution in this case . . . at this time there is still no offer or recommendation,” the ADA told the judge, indicating a potential plea deal.

Judge Ann Scherzer agreed to grant one adjournment and said all parties are due back in court on Sept. 10. LaBeouf remained silent throughout the proceeding. Outside court, LaBeouf didn’t say a word, instead rushing into a Lincoln Navigator.

The cop-spitting incident, during which police had to muzzle the raging star, capped a bizarre six hours on June 26 starting with a showdown with a homeless man who LaBeouf can be seen, in video obtained by The Post, chasing around Times Square. A witness said he was trying to get a bag of McDonald’s the man was holding.

He then caused a ruckus at the “Cabaret” performance at Studio 54 by standing up in the middle of the show, shouting obscenities smoking and even slapping star Alan Cumming on the behind.

When cops escorted him out in handcuffs, he unloaded a verbal assault. “F–k you!” he shouted at cops, according to the criminal complaint. “This is f–king b——t? Do you know my life? Do you know who I am?” At the precinct, the cops had to put a facemask on the actor when he began spitting at them.

He faces criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment raps for the drunken tantrum at “Cabaret.”

LaBeouf’s publicist has said the star was seeking outside treatment for an alcohol addiction.
