Hard-charging p.r. pro Peggy Siegal lost control of her car and swerved across the Hamptons’ busy Montauk Highway, smashing into a fence on Friday night.

Amazingly, the movie publicity maven walked away without a scratch, after her black two-seater sports car dramatically drifted across the highway in Southampton.

However, her beloved Mazda Miata didn’t fare quite as well and was wrecked.

Earlier that night, Siegal had seen Marlo Thomas in “Clever Little Lies” with Martha Stewart and Katie Couric at Guild Hall in East Hampton, then headed for dinner at the East Hampton Grill with director David Saint and playwright Joe DiPietro.

But the meal didn’t wrap till 1 a.m., and on her way home, busy, bleary-eyed Siegal — who’d recently returned from the Dolce & Gabbana show in Capri to host screenings for Woody Allen, Richard Linklater and Naomi Foner — lost control of her car and headed into the fence, narrowly missing two utility poles.

Siegal, who does not drink, wasn’t injured.

Of the car, “It’s somewhat totaled,” she told us. “I had it 25 years and it was priceless, sentimentally. The size of a golf cart, it was easy to park. But it was kind of a death machine. It’s a miracle I wasn’t killed. I’ll probably be in a taxi, or on a bicycle, for the rest of the summer.”
