Jonathan Cheban is learning that being on the outskirts of fame has its downsides.
On Sunday night, Kim Kardashian‘s best friend posted a picture of his meal at a Brooklyn sushi restaurant, that ended up inciting the anger of an unknown man who was in the area, reports E! News.
The man walked in to the restaurant and reportedly started yelling at Cheban, his three friends and his security guard.
“While Jonathan and his group were eating, a man entered the restaurant and started yelling for him,” a witness told the website. “He was screaming, ‘Cheban! Cheban! I came here to talk to you!’ His eyes were huge and he had a large pocket knife hanging off his belt—it was really scary. He looked like a stalker.”
The man tried to approach the television personality’s table, but when his path was blocked, he decided to take a seat at the bar. Making matters worse, a “freaked out” looking Cheban seemed to have no idea who the man was.
Things eventually turned physical when Cheban’s party tried to leave shortly before midnight.
“The security guard had no choice,” the on looker said. “He punched the stranger in the face and hustled Jonathan out of there.”
Despite the fracas, E! News reports that police were not called.
Cheban will certainly try to put the whole ordeal behind him later this month, when he attends Kimye’s European wedding.
