The art world came together Thursday at the Eldridge Street Synagogue to honor artist, poet and painter René Ricard, who died this year. Dealer Larry Gagosian, artists Brice Marden, Francesco Clemente, Stefan Bondell and Lola Schnabel, along with designer Zac Posen, conducted readings.
Jeffrey Deitch, Matthew Marks, Fab 5 Freddy, Nan Goldin and Christopher Wool were also spotted at the “celebratory” event.
Ricard helped to launch the careers of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.
