Welcome to the controversial world of Cara Delevingne.
Here’s an impressive set of furry eyebrows, an array of questionable Instagram photos pushing the limits of nudity, and your occasional Twitter blow-up. She’s just the top model from London who isn’t afraid to defend herself, even against recent accusations that she slept through an interview with Vogue magazine.
Writer Plum Sykes wrote that the party-hard model arrived unreasonably late, even though it was held down the block from her house.
“I always wake up ten minutes before I have to be anywhere,” explained Delevingne.
Once the model actually showed up, Sykes and Delevingne headed off to enjoy relaxing massages before the interview; they agreed to meet back within the hour.
“An hour later I await Cara on a wicker lounger. I am definitely relaxed enough for the interview,” writes Sykes. “I read a magazine, have some tea, look at the time. Fifteen minutes pass. No Cara. Half an hour. Finally a masseuse appears and whispers to me that Cara has fallen asleep.
“I went to take her some water after her treatment and she was out. Shall I wake her up?”
Sykes let the overworked model finish her beauty rest, after which Delvingne returned to apologize.
“I’m so sorry!!!” she exclaims, collapsing into a chair. “I fall asleep everywhere! Someone recently asked if they could publish a book of pictures of me sleeping, because there are so many.”
The writer called photographer Tim Walker, who’s worked with the model. “She slept for seven hours on one Mulberry shoot,” he says.
In true Cara form, the model blasted the details of the interview in a flurry of angry tweets.
“Why do people in the industry lie so much?” the model vaguely tweeted in response to the article. “They would rather see you fail than succeed. What happened to supporting each other?”
As for her alleged midmeeting snooze: “All I can say is that I work extremely hard and ‘sleeping’ is proof that sometimes I work too hard. I [apologize] for being so ambitious,” she tweeted.
This isn’t her first public beef. Rita Ora was also an alleged target after the former besties fell out because Delevingne crashed her performance at a DKNY fashion show.
