Tumblr founder David Karp was seated next to President Obama at his intimate fund-raiser Thursday at the home of top investment manager Deven Parekh and wife Monika.
Parekh, managing director of Insight Venture Partners, helped direct Tumblr to its $1.1 billion sale to Yahoo last year, and is said a prolific fund-raiser for Obama.
Despite his seat of honor, we’re told that Karp, 28, remained largely quiet in the discussion, which started after Obama took a private phone call from Secretary of State John Kerry about Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.
Obama told the group that with so many Dutch lives lost, the attack would “potentially galvanize” Europe against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
