There’s an old Southern saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

It’s likely that Phaedra Parks, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” most notorious Southern belle, has probably heard that before. Therefore, the 41-year-old attorney-to-the stars must be shaking her head at her husband Apollo Nida’s latest criminal antics.

Apollo joined Phaedra on the couch during the Season 6 reunion of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”Bravo

In an Atlanta courtroom on Tuesday, Nida, 35, was handed a sentence of eight years in federal prison out of a possible maximum of 30 years, for masterminding a multimillion-dollar bank fraud and identity theft scheme. Nida’s four-year scheme bilked over 50 unknowing victims.

Who didn’t see this coming? That infamous pillow talk episode in Season 6 of “RHOA,” instigated by Nene Leakes, exposed all when Nida admitted that he spent up to $8,000 a night in the strip club — all this while playing second fiddle to his successful lawyer-wife.

In another scene, Nida is the center of a roundtable discussion with the husbands. He talks about being frustrated after gifting his wife an expensive luxury car, and she being too proud to accept it.

Hate to say this, Phaedra, but “RHOA” cast mate Kenya Moore told you so.

For a major part of Season 5 and Season 6, Parks was constantly in dispute with Moore over her alleged flirtation with her husband. Moore retaliated by calling out the suave and debonair Nida for pursuing her and referring to him as nothing more than a jailbird.

Now here’s the part that stings. Lest you forget, Nida joined the show in 2010. Prior to his time in the spotlight, he served six years in prison for a racketeering charge related to a car-theft scheme. It’s beginning to seem like Nida is more attracted to a life of white-collar crime than he is to his own wife.

He won’t get out of prison until 2022. That’s sad news for the couple’s sons, Ayden and Dylan, who will be 12 and 9 when Nida is sprung.

Fans on social media have already weighed in, with most believing that their embattled marriage has met its end.

“Man, I hope Phaedra meets a nice man and leaves Apollo alone,” tweeted @JDoakes.

One Twitter user predicted their doom a long time ago.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Phaedra divorces Apollo. Her actions have been speaking volumes lately.”

Those “actions” included relaxing on vacation with her girls Fantasia Barrino and Kandi Burruss instead of being at her husband’s side.

Ultimately, Parks will have to decide if the man she loves is worth the wait.
