Kevin Smith’s daughter almost ‘kidnapped’ by fake Uber drivers

Kevin Smith‘s daughter Harley Quinn Smith had a terrifying experience while waiting for an Uber in Los Angeles recently.

The 16-year-old actress says she was standing outside a Starbucks in Brentwood, Calif., on Saturday when a large, beige car with two white men pulled up next to her.

The men “tried to get me to think they were my Uber,” she wrote on Instagram, adding that the guys looked between 20 and 30 years old and had posted an Uber sign in the front window of the car.

She continued, “They were most definitely not Uber drivers. When I asked who they were there to pick up, making sure it was the right car, they wouldn’t answer me and said to get in the car. They didn’t have the Uber app on their phone and were clearly just two disgusting dudes trying to kidnap a girl standing on her own.”

Smith noted she was in “too much haze of fear” to take a picture of the drivers or jot down the license plate number.

“If you see a car like this PLEASE report it to the police and stop them from trying to pray on other young girls!!!” she said. “We have already reported it to the police, but more information would be helpful in finding them. Be careful and look out for yourself/others!!!!”

After the incident, her father comforted her with a cake that had “Sorry Men Suck” written on the side.

“Just when I was about to lose faith in humanity after almost being kidnapped today, my dad got me this cake and made me remember that some people, like himself, make the world a lot better,” she captioned a photo of the treat.

Reps for Uber did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
