Broke ‘Mambo Kings’ star had to borrow to bail out gal pal

“Mambo Kings” star Armand Assante is so broke that he had to take a loan from a lawyer to bail out his Brazilian bombshell gal pal, who is accused of stealing from actor Josh Brolin, court records show.

Assante, 64, had to borrow nearly $2,000 to get Giselle Oliveira, 34, out of jail in January, according to the documents.

Oliveira appeared in Manhattan court Thursday saying she’s been living “the simple life” with Assante and denying the charges against her.

The curvy blonde’s lawyer, Richard Sinrod, revealed Assante’s cash-flow woes in a Jan. 27 letter to the court that explained why he hadn’t yet been reimbursed for the loan.

Sinrod, retained by Assante, did confirm a few days later that the “Gotti” actor had transferred the $1,860 to his account.

Bizarrely, Assante had helped prosecutors obtain an indictment against Oliveira, whom he dated and is shacked up with at his horse farm in upstate Orange County, the papers said.

Sinrod acknowledges in the documents that Assante agreed to testify — but only as long as his name wouldn’t be leaked to the press, which it was.

“Mr. Assante voluntarily agreed to appear before the grand jury after an understanding . . . that his name be kept out of these proceedings to protect his reputation,” Sinrod wrote, accusing prosecutors of not keeping their word.

Sinrod also raps prosecutors for demanding to know where Assante’s money came from. Assante filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and is fighting foreclosure on the 222-acre farm.

“The idea that Mr. Assante, a worldwide movie star, may have repaid me with anything other than funds derived from a source within the entertainment industry borders on delirium,” Sinrod wrote.

Oliveira is accused of using Brolin’s American Express account to buy $40,000 in clothes on a Web site from October 2010 to January 2013.

She also is accused of cutting the security tags off nearly $10,000 in clothes at a Saks in October and trying to sneak out with them.

She says a Hispanic man named “J” blackmailed her into ripping off Brolin.

“J made me steal the items from the list or he was going to show my fiancé naked photos of me with other men,” she told authorities, according to the court papers.

Brolin, a star of “No Country for Old Men,” has said he has never met her and ran into Assante only once at movie shoot.

After her hearing Thursday, Oliveira told reporters, “I don’t even know who this guy is,” referring to Brolin.

“Armand and I live a very simple life. I am a simple girl who comes from a farm in Brazil. I love to cook. I love to clean.”
