Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto celebrated with a host of Hollywood stars at Vanity Fair’s glamorous party.
Nyong’o changed out of her stunning blue Prada Oscar gown into a Miu Miu sea green silk belted dress and clutched her best supporting actress Oscar as she celebrated with a group including her brother Peter and “12 Years a Slave” co-stars Adepero Oduye and Sarah Paulson.
The beautiful, beaming actress posed for pictures with other stars including Rosario Dawson, Chadwick Boseman and Gayle King, then danced the night away with the backup singers from the Oscar-winning documentary “20 Feet From Stardom.” Nyong’o said of her Oscar, “I can’t believe this is in my hands. I can’t believe this is real life … I’m really overwhelmed – but so grateful.”
Jared Leto, in a celebratory mood, was deluged with well-wishers including Jane Fonda, Leo DiCaprio, Sheryl Crow and Adrien Brody as he clutched his best supporting actor Oscar after arriving at the party with his brother.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence traded her red Dior Haute Couture gown for an edgy, shattered-glass-covered Tom Ford mini. She arrived at the annual Graydon Carter-hosted event with her parents and her boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult. After an earlier fall on the red carpet, she was overheard joking about her new short dress, which required her to step out without underwear due to its sheer side panels, “I’d better not fall in this.”
Newly engaged Allison Williams arrived with her husband-to-be, Ricky Van Veen, and showed off a huge diamond ring on her hand. She said, “We just got engaged on Tuesday, we are really happy.”
Lady Gaga, in a corseted custom Versace gown, mingled with Donatella Versace, both with matching long platinum blonde hair. Their long trains got repeatedly stuck under other guests’ feet as they glided across the room, but they didn’t seem to care. Gaga told us, “I am having a wonderful time.”
Miranda Kerr bumped into her estranged husband, Orlando Bloom, on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party. Top Australian model Kerr, in a plunging metallic gown, was doing a TV interview when Bloom popped up behind her, and asked her how she was doing.
“Hi. You look amazing,” Bloom said as he planted a kiss on her cheek, and then asked if she was doing well. Kerr looked startled and replied, “Yes,” before he moved away. Miranda and Orlando, who have a son, Flynn, married in 2010 and announced their separation last year.
Oscar night’s hottest party was relocated this year to a new venue off Sunset Boulevard to accommodate a larger guest list – and Academy Award winners mingled with Hollywood and showbiz royalty until the early hours of Monday.
The Vanity Fair party had been held at the elegant and more intimate Sunset Tower Hotel since 2009, but this year was held in a space constructed at a Sunset Plaza outdoor parking facility, bedecked with a custom-made 92-foot-long chandelier and a huge outdoor terrace.
Inside the 12,000-square-foot party space on Sunset Boulevard, a circular dining room was built for an earlier exclusive dinner, with wood-paneled walls and eight 65-inch flat screens to watch the Oscars from “creme suede”-colored banquettes.
Those invited early to dinner at the Graydon Carter-hosted fete included “Game of Thrones” beauty Emilia Clarke, Bruce Willis and his pregnant wife, Emma, Hollywood royalty including Anjelica Huston, Shirley MacLaine and Don Rickles, power execs including Barry Diller, David Geffen and Les Moonves, and fashion designers Tom Ford and Carolina Herrera. Also spotted at the dinner was director Judd Apatow with wife Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen, along with Zooey Deschanel, B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling.
Once the Oscar ceremony had wrapped, more stars headed over to the party, including Robert De Niro, who shook hands with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, while Ben Affleck chatted to Liam and Chris Hemsworth. John Travolta was there with his wife, Kelly Preston, and “Mad Men” star John Hamm was seen sharing a kiss with girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt.
“American Hustle” star Bradley Cooper arrived with his model girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse, and was seen chatting to Clint Eastwood’s actor son, Scott Eastwood, while “Nebraska” star Bruce Dern was spotted being congratulated by Michael Strahan. Meanwhile, Cooper’s co-star, best actress nominee Amy Adams, posed for photos with Oscar winner Spike Jonze.
Oscar-nominated “Captain Phillips” star Barkhad Abdi posed for pictures with Dwyane Wade’s fiancée, actress Gabrielle Union. He told us, “I am having a great time at the Oscars, I am just enjoying it and making the most of tonight.” After being congratulated on his performance by a host of A-list actors, he admitted the person he was most excited to meet was Union. “She’s beautiful,” he added.
