The new season of “Dancing with the Stars” doesn’t start till next month but the eliminations are well under way.
Co-host and former DWTS contestant Brooke Burke-Charvet, 42, called her firing from the celebrity dance competition program “shocking.”
“Weird day … Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS …ME. Tom Bergeron didn’t even read my name,” she tweeted early Saturday morning.
A competitor who won Season 7 of the ABC dance show, Burke-Charvet has co-hosted since Season 10.
In a statement, the brunette told E! Online, “I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake.”
Burke-Charvet said she understood the decision.
“I’ve always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn’t able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show,” she said.
News of Burke-Charvet’s firing was a surprise, a source told People Magazine.
“It was a shock they let Brooke go,” the source told the magazine. The cast and crew loved her. It’s very sad.”
ABC has also fired orchestra leader Harold Wheeler and his 28-member band from the show.
