Explorer Conrad Anker sells out dinner in honor of George Mallory

Conrad Anker’s dinner at the Explorers Club in honor of George Mallory — who disappeared on Mount Everest in 1924 and whose body Anker found in 1999 — sold out Thursday night.

So the mountain man who summited Everest three times and captains the North Face Athlete Team did a repeat performance Friday for free.

Anker appeared in the club’s Member’s Room to tape Jim Clash’s “Exploring Legends” series.

Topics included finding Mallory; April’s shocking Sherpa deaths on Everest, in which 16 Nepalis died; and Anker’s Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation. Nicknamed “The Lung with Legs,” Lowe was one of the world’s foremost climbers till his death in a 1999 Tibetan avalanche.
