Malia Obama nabs production job with Steven Spielberg

First daughter Malia Obama, who turns 16 on July 4, landed a dream summer job as a production assistant for a day on the new sci-fi CBS series “Extant,” starring Halle Berry and produced by Steven Spielberg, a major Obama donor.

According to Hollywood blog TheWrap, the president’s elder daughter took on a number of assignments on-set last week in LA.

An insider said, “She helped with computer shop alignments, and the director also let her ‘slate’ a take.”

The source added that Malia commented on her first time behind the camera by saying, “My first time. This is a big deal.”

Reports said Michelle Obama accompanied Malia to the set while she worked.

President Obama has said in the New Yorker that Malia wants to study film, and Spielberg reportedly contributed $1 million to her dad’s Super PAC.

Malia attends prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, but classes have let out for the summer.

In “Extant,” Berry plays an astronaut who returns home pregnant after a year-long solo mission in space.

Malia also joined her parents last weekend in California while the president gave a commencement speech at the University of California at Irvine.

They later attended a fund-raiser in Orange County at the home of Getty heir Anne Earhart.
