Billionaire George Soros’ eldest son, Robert, not only followed in his father’s financier footsteps, holding a top post at the family investment fund, he also inherited his dad’s famous problems with women.
The 50-year-old scion quietly filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years in Manhattan Supreme Court last week, The Post can exclusively report.
Robert, president and deputy chairman of the $28 billion Soros Fund Management, married photographer and filmmaker Melissa Robin Schiff at Temple Emanu-El in New York in 1992.
Sources told The Post’s Julia Marsh that a battle is brewing over murky language in the duo’s decades-old prenuptial agreement.
There is a lot to fight over, although a child custody battle is off the table, as Melissa and Robert’s son and daughter are both college-age.
The estranged couple owns a $13 million West 11th Street townhouse, a Rhinebeck country home called Enterprise Farm, and a $9 million Martha’s Vineyard waterfront cottage.
Robert also inherited his dad’s generosity gene. He and Melissa have supported causes including reproductive rights, Democratic politics and the arts.
Melissa, 50, hired powerhouse attorney Bernard Clair, whose recent boldface clients include Simon Cowell’s baby-mama, Lauren Silverman, and Bethenny Frankel’s soon-to-be ex, Jason Hoppy.
Clair declined to comment, except to “urge that the matter be viewed with the requisite degree of privacy and respect.” Robert is repped by another top Manhattan divorce lawyer, Eleanor Alter. She did not comment.
George Soros married his third wife, Tamiko Bolton, last summer. He’s still in a court battle with his ex-girlfriend, Adriana Ferreyr.
Last month, a judge ruled he did not cause the Brazilian actress emotional pain by reneging on a promise to buy her a $1.9 million pad on East 85th Street.
But Ferreyr, 30, can pursue her case against Soros, 83, on one claim — that he committed assault by slapping and attempting to choke her while in bed in 2010.
