F. Warrington Gillet Jr. can finally rest in peace. “Big Warry,” as he was known in Palm Beach, died seven years ago and had a big funeral befitting his bloodlines — one ancestor was US Ambassador to the Soviet Union Joseph Davies, the husband of Marjorie Merriweather Post. But his widow, steel heiress Elesabeth Ingalls Boykin Gillet, never put a tombstone on his unmarked grave in Maryland. The Episcopal church near the graveyard, his friends and his sons, Warry III and Warry IV, were horrified. Finally, venture capitalist Frank Bonsal, who was best man at Gillet’s wedding to Eles, stepped up and ordered a huge, white, marble monument for his old friend. Some say now they can hear cheers wafting up from the good Maryland earth.
