When writer Charles Kipps arrived at Elaine’s Monday night to celebrate the release of his mystery novel, “Hell’s Kitchen Homicide,” four Real Housewives of New Jersey were waiting for him — Caroline Manzo, Teresa Giudice, Jacqueline Laurita and Dina Manzo. They weren’t there to get a signed copy of Kipps’ novel, however. They wanted to talk about “Cop Without a Badge,” Kipps’ 1996 nonfiction book about FBI informant Kevin Maher, who was once married to the fifth housewife on the Bravo show, Danielle Staub, a k a Beverly Merrill. In the first-season finale, Giudice screamed “whore” at Staub over revelations in the book, flipped a dinner table and sent dishes and silverware flying. No tables were flipped at Elaine’s — the housewives behaved like ladies.
