David Steinberg — who appeared on Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” more than any guest besides Bob Hope — received the Johnny Carson Comedy Legend Award on Saturday at the Great American Comedy Festival in Carson’s hometown of Norfolk, Neb.
Previous award recipients include Dick Cavett and Steven Wright. Steinberg, who appeared on Carson’s show a whopping 140 times, is the host of Showtime’s “Inside Comedy.”
Comics performing at this year’s fest included Jim Breuer and Caroline Rhea.
