A doppelganger of J.Crew president/creative director Jenna Lyons turned heads during the brand’s Fashion Week presentation yesterday. But Lyons said it wasn’t intentional.
The girl, with the same long, brown hair and black-rimmed glasses, caught the eye of J.Crew execs when she happened to be cast in the company’s Madewell campaign.
“She’s a lot cuter, a lot skinnier and a lot younger than me,” Lyons quipped.
REVIEW: J. CREW FALL 2012 PRESENTATION
COMPLETE FASHION WEEK COVERAGE
J.Crew’s presentation appeared to be a nod to Lyons’ style, with models dressed in her signature mix of classic pieces in quirky combination. While another model did not look like Lyons per se, she was sporting the same black-and-white printed pants that Lyons wore to the presentation.
Other models similarly sported cropped pants, designed to show off punchy footwear as next season, famed shoewear designer Manolo Blahnik will team up with the brand.
Lyons has often appeared in J.Crew campaigns, sparking a debate when she was seen painting her son’s toenails in an ad last spring. And while missing from this spring catalog, she’ll be in future issues: “We’re constantly trying to make it feel fresh and different. Yes, I will return.”
Guests at the presentation included Kelly Bensimon and Anna Dello Russo, who both took a moment to chat with Lyons.
